Hi, I’m Maryann :) I was born in Modesto, California, but our family quickly moved to a Turlock country parsonage where my dad pastored and my mom helped my brother raise animals for 4H and my sister and I helped him build forts until I was about 8. We grew up mostly back in Modesto until I moved in 1997 with my ex-husband (since 2019), Lee, to his first duty station at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, where our boys Ethan and David were born between 1998 and 2001. Shortly after Lee’s deployment to Panama and just before 9/11, Lee reenlisted to Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and we bought our first home in Hereford, where we lived after Lee exited the military. We owned four acres of mesquite tree and cactus covered land, and loved the quail, road runners, monsoons, and sunsets. Eventually we decided we wanted to move closer to our Modesto family, so we sold our home and moved to Ft. Hunter-Liggett, California for a year before buying a home in Modesto in 2007. I worked in autism as a para-educator for five years with Stanislaus County Office of Education, and earned an associate degree in Humanities through Modesto Junior College in 2014. Lee earned his BA, our boys graduated high school and went to MJC, met their wives and joined the Air Force, and we all parted ways. I spent the summer of 2019 with a friend in Pinedale, Wyoming, finished off 3 more AAs at Modesto Junior College, traveled around the U.S. the summer of 2020 to revisit my friend in Pinedale and my married sons in Delaware and Florida, started attending Stanislaus State spring of 2021, flew out to Florida for the birth of my grandson between semesters the summer of 2021, flew out to see my Delaware youngns over spring break of 2022, and graduated magna cum laude with a philosophy/psychology degree December of 2022, with two visits from the Florida youngns in June and December. God knows I’m ready for what’s next, and feel pulled in so many different directions.
